Privacy: what the script collects
Recommendations are chosen by what a page is about, not by who is reading it. That decision removes most of what an ad script usually collects.
What is not done
- No cookies, localStorage or other storage on the visitor’s device.
- No identifier that follows a visitor across pages or sites.
- No profile of interests, and no data bought from or sold to third parties.
- No fingerprinting.
What is sent when a page loads
- The page’s address, title and language, to match by topic.
- The size of each slot and basic display information such as screen width and light or dark mode.
- If Match my site is on: the font, text color and background color around the slot.
What is kept
- That a unit was shown, seen or clicked, with the country and device type of the request.
- A one-way hash of the visitor’s network address that changes every day, used only to spot repeated clicks. The address itself is not stored.
- For a visit: that it arrived, how long the visitor stayed, and how far they scrolled.
On the destination site
A click carries a short signed token in the address so the destination can confirm the visit. The script reads it and removes it from the address bar immediately, so it is not left in bookmarks or shared links.
Your obligations as a site owner
You remain responsible for your own site’s privacy notice. The legal pages describe the roles in detail; they are drafts and have not yet been reviewed by counsel.
